NYC, September 2007

My name is Ryan Lindsey and I am an interactive designer at Young & Rubicam Brands in Southern California. In a nutshell, I build highly interactive user experiences whether they be online or on the desktop. I think I have one of the coolest jobs in the world and couldn’t imagine doing anything else.

One of my favorite things about what I do is the community behind it. There is so much inspiration and influence to be had by some very smart and creative people. This is the main reason why I decided to fire up a blog. It’s all about participating in the community.

In 2003, I was headed down a completely different path and it was at this time that I decided I needed to follow my dreams, go back to school, and pursue a creative career. I landed at The Art Institute of California, and earned a Bachelor of Science in Interactive Media Design. While in school I took freelance web design work and learned how to work with clients, learn and adapt to the unforseen, and deliver projects on-time and within budget. This was a great learning experience for me but I knew that one day I wanted to work for an agency and gain that experience as well. Days before I officially graduated, I was lucky enough to get  a job offer at Young & Rubicam Brands in Southern California and have been there since June 2007.

My skills and interests are broad, yet focused. Essentially what I mean—I am willing to learn and adapt to new technologies as they come. Right now Flash is my primary delivery tool but I also experiment in motion graphics, cgi, compositing, as well as generative art. If something better than Flash comes along I would consider making the move but I am not holding my breath.

Feel free to contact me anytime.
